Brightening Our Future by Discovering Our Past

ACHS's mission is to promote and preserve the rich history of Allendale’s people.

About

The Allendale County Historical Society was founded in 2005. The organization, with the help of members and volunteers in the county and surrounding communities, is dedicated to preserving all things that make Allendale so special. A group of 8 residents serve on the Board and are dedicated to preserving places, stories, and culture that are unique to Allendale. The core of our work lies in the continuous passion and dedication we bring to the range of projects we take part in. Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a meaningful difference.

Projects and Events

Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation.

On Thursday, January 25th, we had a great turnout at the James Brandt Building for Home Land: Revisited. We took a fresh look at the 1970's slideshow originally presented by Joe Topper and Xania Lawton. This was a great opportunity to learn more about the people and places depicted in the original slideshow's photos. Many people in attendance shared their knowledge of Allendale's history as we went through the photos. We had interesting discussions, and refreshments were enjoyed by all!

Check back often for information on ACHS's next program!
